ANNOUNCEMENT
Following the 1st International Conference "People with disabilities and Mass Media" on 19-20 June 2006, and on the initiative of Minister of State Theodoros Roussopoulos, the Secretariat General of Communication - Secretariat General of Information is organizing:
- The 2nd International Conference "People with disabilities and Mass Media", 18-19 June 2007
- The 1st International Documentary Festival on Disability in Athens: Emotion Pictures, 16-18 June 2007
The Documentary Festival is opening Saturday 16 June at 11.00. The official opening, which will be honoured by the presence of the President of the Hellenic Democracy Mr. Carolos Papoulias, is to be held at 20.30 the same day. The Festival will last for a period of three days and sessions will be closed Monday 18 June. The ceremony for the awards to the distinguished films will be held the same day at 22.15.
The sessions of the 2nd International Conference will be opened Monday 18 June at 10.00 with the participation of representatives from the fields of politics, culture and journalism. Monday 18 June sessions will be held following 5 thematic unities (ending at 19.30):
1. People with Disabilities and Mass Media: One Year After
2. Journalistic ethics and refutation of stereotypes
3. Ways Mass Media educate and shape opinions: The case of People with Disabilities
4. Entertainment TV and People with Disabilities: Disability in Greek Serials/Disability in Children TV Shows
5. University Media Departments: Approaching and managing disability issues
Tuesday 19 June sessions will be held following 2 thematic unities (10.00 to 14.00):
1. People with Disabilities and the way they are featured in Works of Art
2. The Rights of People with Disabilities concerning the Media
